When your Septic System needs pumped out
To start off with. Septic Systems are recommended to be pumped out every three to five years unless other conditions change that recommendation such as tank size, number of people in the home or place of business. Septic pumping in this recommended time frame is purely maintenance, you may be able to go 10 years and have no problems until one day catastrophe hits. Having your septic tanks cleaned out is like changing the oil in your car, you can go over the miles, way over the miles before an oil change, but eventually you will cause catastrophic damage that would have cost less money in the first place. Not having the septic system maintained properly will cause failed leach/drain fields which can cause septic to back up into your home and potentially clog your pipes leaving you with a hefty bill for multiple services.
When you flush your toilet or run water and it is slowly draining this can not only be a sign of a clogged pipe but also your septic tank could be full for numerous reasons.
Your toilet or drains making a gurgling sound? This is a sign of a blockage, whether its a blockage in the pipe or septic tank, air gets trapped and as liquids flow through causing the air to have no place to go but back up into the home.
Smelly water pooling in your yard. usually around the tank lids, when your septic tank is backed up and full, hydraulic pressure causes the waste water to seep out through the lids.
Your home or yard smells like sewage? these odors can come from drains or toilets and may indicate issues with your septic system being to full and or proper ventilation is blocked.Â
